In February while I was in Los Angeles for the Create & Cultivate conference, I also checked out the Malibu Wine Safari! A visit to LA is not complete unless I go on an adventure or excursion of some kind with my best friend. If you’ve followed along, whenever I’m in LA we find something adventurous to do, and this time it was the Malibu Wine Safari!

Me and Ashlyn’s previous adventures have landed us in San Francisco and Catalina Island, this time we decided to keep it local, only a 30 minute uber ride away. We booked the Explorer Tour with Malibu Wine Safari, it was very affordable, only $65, and included a tour of Saddlerock Ranch & Vineyard, visiting exotic animals, and tasting wine of course. After signing our waivers and waiting for the rest of the group to arrive, we loaded the truck and started the tour.
We both opted to dress on the cuter side since the tour didn’t involve much walking. We traveled between each tasting and animal visit on the truck. Plus, we wanted to be photo-ready, because what’s better than posing with a wine glass and an amazing view? Plus, I had to impress my new friends (learn more below).
Wine and Friends
Our tour guides were awesome and introduced me to some of my new Malibu friends.
- Marty
- Barack O’llama
- Stanley the Giraffe (living the retired life)
- Alpaca
- Kendrick Llama and his crew

Between visits to the animals, we stopped, tasted wine, and learned about the history of Saddlerock Ranch and the Semler Family. We tasted 3 whites and 3 reds and had some small bites of cheese, fruit, crackers, and a fig almond spread (which I brought home).
I highly recommend checking out this tour if you are LA, or plan to visit soon. We had so much fun, and I would definitely check out another one of their tours, I’ve got my eye on their Pizza & Wine Tour next!
