It is officially my favorite season of the year. Happy Fall Y’all! I mean how can you not love the beautiful changing leaves, the chill in the morning, how it’s warm during the day, then a little chilly in the evening?
Now I know I have some friends who are just rolling their eyes at this post because they just love love love summer. Don’t get me wrong I love summer too, but I love fall more. I mean, winter is too cold, spring is horrible if you’re like me and have allergies, and then summer can be so humid. But then there’s fall…which in my opinion, is a perfect balance.
Let me run through a few reasons why.
The Best Weather
It’s the best weather to walk around your local apple orchard and pick pumpkins. The weather is also perfect for your hair if the humidity is not your friend.
For those who are obsessed with pumpkin, this season is all about you! While I prefer pumpkin scented candles, there’s a whole PSL (Pumpkin Spiced Latte) community out there!
Everything from dark nail colors, booties, blazers and jeans, lightweight jackets, and the introduction to hoodie season, and if you’re ready, go ahead and pull out the scarves.
So how can you not love fall?! Tell me your favorite things about fall in the comments!
This week I went to the office to clear out my cubicle as our office prepares to create shared workspaces. Like many others, it was mid-March when I started working remotely and everything changed. There’s just something about living through a pandemic, working full-time, and being a Black woman during a time of racial tension and injustice. At the end of the day, it’s just a lot.
As a nail technician, I, of course, have a love for nail polish…I won’t disclose how many bottles I have. So you can imagine my excitement when my friend launched her nail polish line XXVZ! A Black-owned, cruelty-free, 10-free, and vegan-friendly polish collection. Once her site was live I couldn’t wait to check out the Chaos collection.
As I approach my 10 year anniversary as a licensed nail technician, I realized I have yet to blog about my life as a nail tech! Ten years is a long time, and when I think back to my apprentice years when I was 16…I’ve technically been doing nails for 19 years!!
Last year I shared a few of my favorite things…and I figured it was time for part 2. I’ve added links below so these can become your new favorites too! Everything a good pink lip, the perfect pair of sunglasses, and my everyday go to’s!
In February while I was in Los Angeles for the Create & Cultivate conference, I also checked out the Malibu Wine Safari! A visit to LA is not complete unless I go on an adventure or excursion of some kind with my best friend. If you’ve followed along, whenever I’m in LA we find something adventurous to do, and this time it was the Malibu Wine Safari!
It was in 2013 when I bought my first home I came across this wall art that said: “Let your faith be bigger than your fear.” In the buying and closing process, there is so much to be fearful about, and seeing this wall art was a reminder to not let my fears get in the way, instead, have faith.
In February, I attended a gala to celebrate the life of an awesome man, God-brother, and the founder of Magic Minds Inc. It was a true celebration and a beautiful evening of fellowship. The favor from the gala was a small composition notebook with a pen, and we were told to write down our goals. The significance of a composition notebook to my God-brother is that it was in a composition notebook that Magic Minds Inc. was founded, the business plan was written, and he and the founders stepped out on of faith.
In March I decided to step into the entrepreneurial world officially and register my business, TarenTooten Marketing. After building a portfolio and fine-tuning my skills in website design and digital marketing, I decided to make the leap.
